Lincoln MKC Crossover Gets Design Update, Modern Safety Tech

The Lincoln MKC has been updated for the 2019 model year, receiving a slightly different look and more tech features.

Unveiled at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2019 MKC ditches Lincoln’s polarizing split grille for the wider single grille treatment found on the latest Continental, MKZ and Navigator. It also boasts new LED headlights and taillights.

The interior can be had in three different Black Label interior themes — Modern Heritage, Indulgence, and Center Stage — all featuring premium soft-touch materials and exclusive membership privileges such as annual vehicle detailing and anytime car washes.

The infotainment system benefits from Ford’s latest Sync 3 system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, while the addition of pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection and optional active park assist enhance the crossovers overall safety.

Power is provided by either a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder with 245 horsepower or a more powerful turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder that produces 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft. of torque.

Electric Volvo XC40 Recharge Arrives With 249-Mile Range

The Swedish automaker’s first all-electric vehicle offers 408 horsepower and 249 miles of driving range.

Volvo has taken the wraps off the XC40 Recharge, the first of many all-electric vehicles it has planned for the coming years.

The electric SUV looks nearly identical to the internal-combustion and hybrid XC40 variants, yet the lack of a grille makes it standout as the pure battery-powered EV of the lineup. It can also be ordered with a new color called Sage Green.

The elimination of the XC40’s combustion engine makes room for a little storage compartment under the hood. In other words, there is a frunk.

Electric motors mounted at each axle gives the XC40 Recharge 408 horsepower to work with, as well as all-wheel. The the battery pack, which can be recharged up to 80 percent capacity in 40 minutes when using a fast charger, delivers a driving range of up to 249 miles (400 kilometers) on Europe’s WLTP cycle.

Like the exterior, the interior is nearly identical to the other XC40 models, with the exception of the new Android-powered infotainment system, which includes Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play Store.

Volvo expects electric vehicles to account for half of its global sales by 2025, with hybrid models constituting the remainder. All electrified models — plug-in hybrids and EVs — will fall under the company’s ‘Recharge’ sub-brand.

The Cross Sport is more stylish than the regular Atlas.

Volkswagen has revealed the all-new Atlas Cross Sport, expanding the Atlas lineup with a sportier, coupe-like crossover.

As a five-seat alternative to the regular Atlas, the Cross Sport eliminates the third row of seats in favor of a sleeker profile but still manages to provides 40.3 cubic feet of stowage space when the rear seats are up and 77.8 cu ft when folded flat.

A three-bar chrome grille, unique headlights, and more sculpted hood gives it a more upscale look than its larger sibling, while an available R-Line package amps up the sportiness factor with 21-inch wheels and sportier bumpers with chrome and piano black accents around the lower front air scoops.

The interior benefits from a few upgrades, featuring a new steering wheel and available stitching accents on the seats and door inserts. Heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, rear sunshades, and a 12-speaker Fender audio system are part of the options list.

As for power, buyers can choose between a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 235 horsepower or a 3.6-liter V6 with 276 horsepower. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, driving either the front wheels or, optionally, all four wheels.

The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport will be built alongside the Atlas and Passat at VW’s Chattanooga plant, with the first deliveries arriving in spring 2020.

2021 Toyota Rav4 Plug-in Hybrid Is The Most Powerful Rav4 Ever

It is the most fuel-efficient and the most powerful Rav4 variant.

Toyota has revealed the 2021 Rav4 plug-in hybrid ahead of its official debut at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show.

According to the Japanese automaker, the plug-in hybrid Rav4 will utilize the most powerful powertrain in the model’s history, one that delivers “surprising performance capabilities,” including spirited acceleration and nimble handling.

That means it makes more power than the basic Rav4 hybrid variant, which makes due with 219 horsepower.

Visually, the Rav4 plug-in hybrid features unique styling touches that include a black grille and vertical LED fog lights. It will also be offered with a new Supersonic Red paint scheme and bright chrome wheels.

In related news, rival Honda recently revealed the hybrid version of its popular CR-V crossover.
