Mazda has revealed what is perhaps the most attractive version of the new CX-5 crossover, the 2017 CX-5 Custom Style.

It wasn’t long ago that the all-new, second-generation CX-5 was unveiled, but the Japanese automaker didn’t want to wait long to annouce a snazzier version. The CX-5 Custom Style is an optional appearance package that’s said to improve both the crossover’s handling and already-good looks.

Performance is enhanced with a height-adjustable suspension and special edition 20-inch gunmetal wheels shod in 245-45 tires that likely offer more grip. Engine and transmission remain unchanged.

The most noticeable changes outside are the addition of chrome-lined skirts, black door mirrors regardless of exteriro color, and matte black brake calipers.

Inside, Mazda says the CX-5 Custom Style boasts an aluminum finish on the pedals, welcome lamps and illuminated scuff plates that give off a more premium vibe, and special floor mats that also serve as a deodorizer.

The new Mazda CX-5 Custom Style is nice and all, but it will likely not be offered in the United States and Canada. It might in fact be a Japan-only affair.

The Swedish automaker’s first all-electric vehicle offers 408 horsepower and 249 miles of driving range.

Volvo has taken the wraps off the XC40 Recharge, the first of many all-electric vehicles it has planned for the coming years.

The electric SUV looks nearly identical to the internal-combustion and hybrid XC40 variants, yet the lack of a grille makes it standout as the pure battery-powered EV of the lineup. It can also be ordered with a new color called Sage Green.

The elimination of the XC40’s combustion engine makes room for a little storage compartment under the hood. In other words, there is a frunk.

Like the exterior, the interior is nearly identical to the other XC40 models, with the exception of the new Android-powered infotainment system, which includes Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play Store.

Volvo expects electric vehicles to account for half of its global sales by 2025, with hybrid models constituting the remainder. All electrified models — plug-in hybrids and EVs — will fall under the company’s ‘Recharge’ sub-brand.
