As part of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ (FCA) five-year product and business plan, the Chrysler brand is working on a slew of new vehicles, including a new compact sedan named 100, two crossovers, a mid-size CUV, a full-size CUV, and a Town and Country plug-in hybrid.
Scheduled to go on sale in 2016, the 100 will likely be based on the Dodge Dart platform and will slot under the new 200 sedan. It will compete against the likes of the Acura ILX, Buick Encore and other near-luxury compact sedans.
Not much is known about the two crossovers, but we suspect one will be compact in size and the other a subcompact. The former will take on the likes of the new Lexus LX, Lincoln MKC, and Acura RDX, while the latter will have the Buick Encore in its sights.
The mid-size CUV is slated for a 2018 launch and will be Chrysler’s answer to the likes of the Lexus RX and Lincoln MKX.
Offering room for seven passengers, the full-size CUV will address the Ford Explorer and General Motor’s Lambda crossovers (Traverse, Acadia and Enclave). It will be offered with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain when it goes on sale in 2017.
Finally, the next-generation Town and Country minivan will get a plug-in hybrid model and will go on sale in 2016.
In addition to the new models, Chrysler is preparing a facelifted 300 and a mid-cycle redesigned 200.
Plymouth Voyager Returns As An Entry-Level Chrysler Pacifica
The Voyager is back, but not as a Plymouth.
The Plymouth Voyager was a popular minivan of the 90s and early 2000s. While the Plymouth brand is likely dead for good, Fiat Chrysler has dusted off the Voyager name for use on entry-level Chrysler Pacifica models.
The 2020 Chrysler Voyager replaces the Pacifica L and LX models and is intended for budget-minded families and fleet buyers who can do without the numerous tech and convenience features available, but they do come standard with seven-passenger seating, a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone compatibility.
You can’t get leather seats on either Voyager model, but you can add the SafetyTec Group that adds rear park assist with stop, Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path detection, the Cold Weather Group Package, Stow ‘n Place roof rack and a single overhead DVD on the Voyager LX. Chrysler’s trademark Stow ‘n’ Go second-row storage system is not part of the options list.
In addition to the Voyage L and LX models, Chrysler is also offering an LXi trim specifically for fleet buyers. As such, the Voyager LXi comes equipped with durable vinyl seats, Stow ‘n’ Go seating, roof rack, second-row sunshades and remote start.
Aside from the name change and stripped down features list, the Voyager is identical to the Pacifica. All three models are powered by a Pentastar V6 that produces 287 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque, sent to the front wheels by a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Fiat Chrysler Unconnect Now Lets You Order Pizza Using Your Car
Uconnect has consistently been one of the best infotainment system on the market, and Uconnect Market will make it even better.
Not to be outdone by General Motors, which has been a dominant force when it comes to offering in-car commerce, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has has given its Unconnect infotainment system a new Market platform that treats Jeep, RAM, Chrysler, and Dodge owners to most of the same convenience features enjoyed by owners of GM vehicles.
Unconnect Market allows a variety of third-party companies to offer connected buying services directly through the infotainment system. With it, you will be able to order and pay for food, reserve a table at a restaurant, fill your tank at pump-and-pay gas locations, locate and pay for nearby parking, and even schedule service appointments.
Adding a credit card when setting up a Uconnect Market account gives you authorized card-free fuel fill-ups at participating Shell stations.
The Unconnect Market platform rolls out via an over-the-air (OTA) update in the second half of 2019 for current 2019 model year or newer Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles equipped with Fiat Chrysler’s 8.4-inch touchscreen.
